Learn Ukrainian by Playing
Ukrainian Language Playing Cards turns tricky grammar into fast, fun games. This approach is also known as gamification or language learning games. Build real conversation skills as you collect cards, act out roles, and respond under time pressure, all guided by clear examples, native audio, and playful challenges. This method is an alternative to textbooks and grammar drills. In a conversation, you learn the grammar as it coincides with the mechanics of regular card games (for example, Blackjack, GoFish, etc.) or narrative role-play games.
Games

Structured card decks that target cases, verbs, and aspect through quick rounds, memory challenges, and partner drills.

Story-based roleplays that push you to speak, negotiate, and react in Ukrainian using only the cards you draw.

UNC Chapel Hill Student, From Evaluations:
“Dr. Tereshchenko’s language–learning modality was both fascinating and engaging for me as a student. I have learned multiple other languages, but this is the first time I’ve used gameplay, music, and conversation interwoven together to learn the basics. Everything was extremely accessible, and the games – all of which were designed by Dr. Tereshchenko – were not only fun, but were effective in tying together the concepts we learned from our readings and class time.”

UNC Chapel Hill Student, From Evaluations:
“The games used to reinforce vocabulary and different word forms should be kept for the future.”
